Plan the junctions before choosing the finish

For a Noosa plastering project, photographs of the intended details are as useful as a list of rooms. Show where ceilings change level, walls curve or new linings meet existing surfaces. K & J Interiors can discuss installation, setting and sanding around the architectural details in your renovation scope.

01

Square-set ceilings & bulkhead junctions

Clean junctions start with a suitable lining and framing scope. Identify the ceiling levels, bulkhead returns and wall junctions you want finished so preparation is considered before setting, rather than left until painting.

02

Curved walls & recessed plasterboard features

Shaped walls and recessed details bring extra corners and changes in direction into the lining work. Discuss the form, supporting structure and neighbouring surfaces so installation and joint finishing suit the feature.

03

Decorative ceilings & cornice profiles

Ornamental details and shaped cornices offer a different finish from square set. Send photos of existing profiles and identify what should stay, be repaired or be replaced; availability and condition influence the options.

04

Ceiling replacement & affected wall repairs

Architectural finishes still depend on sound linings. Discuss cracks, damaged plasterboard or a replacement ceiling as their own scope, including any moisture-source investigation required before reinstatement.

05

Setting, sanding & coordinated paint preparation

The final appearance depends on defining the finish as well as installing plasterboard. Confirm joint setting, sanding and paint preparation, then discuss painting and relevant carpentry separately where they are needed.

Sound linings before decorative finishing

If an architectural ceiling or wall is damaged, assess the lining before restoring the visible detail. Partial repairs and larger replacement scopes have different junctions and preparation requirements. Include photos showing both the defect and the wider feature.

For water or mould-affected plasterboard, address moisture causes and specialist treatment separately before reinstatement. A decorative finish or repaint does not replace that preparation.

Noosa plastering questions

What should I provide for a square-set ceiling enquiry?

Show the wall-to-ceiling junctions, intended room changes and any drawings. Identify existing cornice removal or retained surfaces so preparation can be included in the discussion.

Can a curved wall be included in plasterboard finishing?

Describe its shape and supporting structure and supply photos or plans. Installation and joint setting can be discussed for the specific feature rather than assuming a standard flat-wall scope.

Are recessed details part of the lining or painting stage?

The feature needs to be formed and lined before joint finishing and painting. Define its shape and corners early so the relevant preparation is included.

How do I choose between cornice and square set?

Cornice covers a junction with a shaped profile, while square set creates a junction without that moulding. Existing surfaces, room details and the intended appearance all influence the scope.

Can a damaged decorative ceiling be repaired without full replacement?

That depends on the damaged detail, lining condition and support. Close-up and wider photos help begin the assessment; retention or exact matching is not guaranteed in advance.

Does a plastering quote include painting by default?

No. Confirm whether you want paint preparation only or painting of specified surfaces. Any relevant carpentry and moisture-related preparation should also be stated separately.
